WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING
DO NOT MODIFY YOUR IDM UNLESS YOU *REALLY* KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!!!
If none of this makes any sense to you, or only makes partial sense, STOP!!!

Until now, the IDM mod was a "secret" mod that only a few people knew, and no one wanted to share.
If you want a history of it, the original Joe Servo page can be found by clicking HERE

I came across a "modded" IDM and have opened it up to share with everyone.

WARNING....WARNING....WARNING....WARNING....WARNING....WARNING

Playing with your IDM is *NOT* like playing with the 10k mods. You screw this up and your looking
at buying a new IDM for several hundred dollars. Not to mention having a dead truck in the yard.

This info is posted purely to de-mystify the "secret IDM mod". You break it, its not my fault!

There are two versions of the IDM mod. A switchable, and a NON-switchable version. The IDM I have
is the "Switchable" version, but that version has fallen out of favour with the original modders.
Disregard the wires and switch, and just use the pics/values to know what I used to calculate the
real values needed to do this mod. As such, please disregard the green and yellow wires, and only
focus on where they connect to the circuit board.

The mod is simply to change one resistor. Thats it! With one resistor, you go from 110v to 140v!

But these are not ordinary radio shack resistors! They are special, high tolerance, heat resistive,
metal film resistors that are about 40 cents a piece, versus your usual 5 cent rat-shack ones.
Its imperative that you use high quality parts as any drifting of the values could result in a
blown IDM. The values are....DRUM ROLL PLEASE....

IDM-100 uses a 75.0k Ohm (75,000 ohm) 1/2 watt 1% tolerance Metal Film resistor
IDM-110 uses a 75.0k Ohm (75,000) 1/2 watt 1% tolerance Metal Film resistor
IDM-120 uses a 73.2k Ohm (73,200) 1/2 watt 1% tolerance Metal Film resistor

DigiKey sells the needed resistors:
75.0KX (Violet-Green-Black-Red-Brown)
73.2KX (Violet-Orange-Red-Red-Brown)

All you need to do, is remove the original resistor, and solder in the correct resistor as listed
above for your model IDM. (Should be a sticker that lists the model near the connector).
In the pics I have, you would solder to the same place on the board that the green and yellow
wires are soldered. You shouldnt use wires or switches.

Further Disclaimers and Warnings

I did not perform this mod, nor have I tried it on my truck yet. I did not pull apart a stock IDM
either to confirm my theory that its simply removing one resistor (of a 60.4k ohm value). However
based on what *IS* shown, one should be able to calculate backwards to get the numbers I did.
CONFIRMED: I got an email with 6042 shown on the resistor. That means 60,400 ohms 1% tolerance

The IDM is very important for your powerstroke to run. It must be kept dry inside, and a heavy
sealer/glue is used to seal the unit.
